Senior IAS officer and former Principal Home Secretary Shri Bhanwar Lal, is the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh. He replaced Shri I V Subba Rao who has been posted to the Central Services. Bhanwar Lal is from the state of Rajasthan and he was born on 25th October 1957.

Shri Bhanwar Lal is a 1983 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He completed his Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Rajasthan and MBA from the Birmingham University, UK. As an IAS officer Bhanwar Lal donned several caps - he was the Sub-Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate at Kandukur and District Collector of Karimnagar in Hyderabad. He was also the managing director of Andhra Pradesh State Non Resident Indian Investment Corporation, Project Coordinator of Central Silk Board and the Commissioner of Civil Supplies.

In an all encompassing career in the Government, Bhanwar Lal has had the good opportunity to make ample contribution towards the welfare of labour in the unorganized sector where he helped the unemployed youth to grasp the market demanding skills.
