Tripura Legislative Assembly



Tripura Legislative Assembly was established in the year 1963. The Assembly is a unicameral legislature of the state consisting of 60 members. The elections are conducted every 5 years for 60 seats in the state if the Assembly is not dissolved sooner. Gurkhabasti is the location of the Current Assembly.

There have been eleven Assembly polls until now for electing the members of the House. Last elections were held on 14 February 2013. Forty-nine seats went to Communist Party of India (Marxist), 10 to Indian National Congress and the remaining one seat to Communist Party of India.

The present government is of CPI(M). The speaker of the Assembly is ‎Ramendra Debnath‎, while Deputy Speaker of the House is ‎Pabitra Kar. The current CM is Manik Sarkar.

The twelfth Assembly elections are slated to be held on February 18, 2018, and the counting of the votes begins on March 3.
