About Kotkapura Assembly Constituency

Kotkapura is constituency No. 88 of Punjab legislative assembly. It is situated in Faridkot district and comes under the Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency. The corresponding Lok Sabha constituency Faridkot is reserved for scheduled castes.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Kotkapura has 1,34,157 registered voters. It comprises 71,291 male and 62,866 female registered voters.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) defeated the Congress by a convincing margin of 18,186 votes to win this constituency in the 2012 Punjab assembly elections. Mantar Singh Brar, the winning candidate from Shiromani Akali Dal, got 49,361 votes. The runner-up was Ripjeet Singh Brar of Congress who got 31,175 votes.The voter turnout was 83.14 %.
