About Savner Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
Savner is a town in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. The place is well known for coal mines,
textile and
paper industry. As of 2011 India census, the city had a population of 229,450. The assembly
constituency
of Savner falls under Ramtek parliamentary constituency. Kedar Sunil Chhatrapal of INC won
the 2009
assembly elections for the second consecutive time and is the present MLA. He won the 2002
assembly
elections as an independent candidate. Chhatrapal defeated Deshmukh Ashish Ranjit of BJP in
the 2009
assembly elections. He bagged 82452 votes as against Ranjit's 78980 votes.
