About Chimur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
Chimur is a town in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. As of 2011 India census, the city
had a population
of 169,547. The assembly constituency of Chimur belongs to Gadchiroli-Chimur parliamentary
constituency.
The seat is the stronghold of INC. Vijay Namdeorao Wadettiwar of INC won the 2009 assembly
elections for
the second consecutive time and is the present MLA. He defeated Vasantbhau Narayan Warjurkar
of BJP with a
huge margin. Wadettiwar received 89341 votes as against Warjurkar's 58725 votes.
