About Bhor Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
A city in the Pune district of Maharashtra, the assembly constituency of Bhorbelongs to
Baramati
parliamentary constituency. The constituency is the stronghold of INC (Indian National
Congress). The seat
which was occupied by NCP (National Congress Party) in 1999 was taken over by INC in the
2004 assembly
elections. Thopate Sangram Anantrao of INC won the 2009 assembly elections and is the
present MLA. He
defeated Dhamale Sharad Bajirao of SHS (Shiv Senazz). Anantrao bagged 59041 votes as against
Bajirao's
40461 votes. Bhor had a population of 186,116 as per 2011 India census. The place has many
educational
institutes.
