About Amalner Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Amalner is a city in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. The famous Wipro company came into being in this city only. The city is situated on the bank of river Bori. The city has many educational and industrial centres. As of 2011 India census, Amalner had a population of 287,849. The assembly constituency of Amalner is a part of Jalgaon parliamentary constituency. The seat was occupied by BJP since 1995. But in 2009 assembly elections, BJP could not retain the seat. Krushibhushan Sahebrao Patil, an independent candidate won the elections and is the present MLA. He defeated Anil Bhaidas Patil of BJP. Krushibhushan Sahebrao Patil bagged 55084 votes as against Anil Bhaidas Patil's 44621 votes.
