About Samba Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Samba is a city in the district by the same name of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, it was a part of Jammu district. The place derived its name from Samby Rajput clan. As of 2011 India census, it had a population of 44,562. The assembly constituency of Samba belongs to Jammu parliamentary constituency. The constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Castes. Yash Paul Kundal of JKNPP won the 2008 assembly elections for the second consecutive time and is the present MLA. He defeated Satwant Kour of BJP. Kundal bagged 14631 votes as against Kour's 12642 votes.
