About Nowshera Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Nowshera or Naushera is a town in Rajauri district of Jammu and Kashmir. As of 2011 India census, it had a population of 8,435. The assembly constituency of Nowshehra is a part of Jammu parliamentary constituency. The seat is the stronghold of INC and the party won all assembly elections till 2002. The results of 2008 assembly elections were shocking. Radhay Sham Sharma of JKNC won the 2008 assembly elections and is the current MLA. He defeated Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma of INC. Radhay Sham Sharma secured 16511 votes as against Romesh Chander Sharma's 12691 votes.
