About Doru Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Doru is a small town in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also known as Doru Shahabad. The town has given many famous personalities in the field of literature, art and culture. At the 2011 India census, it had a population of 199,429. The assembly constituency of Doru belongs to Anantnag parliamentary constituency. The seat has been occupied by INC since 2002. Ghulam Ahmad Mir of INC won the 2008 assembly elections for the second consecutive time by defeating Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi of PDP. Mir bagged 15870 votes as against Andrabi's 9952 votes.
