Charari Sharief is a small town in Badgam district of Jammu & Kashmir. In January 2014, it was given the status of a Block. The town is known for the tomb of Sheikh Noor-u-din Noorani. He was an Islamic preacher. As of 2001 India census, it had a population of 7378. The assembly constituency of Charari Sharief belongs to Srinagar parliamentary constituency. The seat has been occupied by JKNC since 1977. Abdul Rahim Rather of JKNC won the 2008 assembly elections for the sixth consecutive time. He defeated Ghulam Nabi Lone of PDP with a huge margin. Rather bagged 24579 votes as against Lone's 18204 votes.
