About Batamaloo Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
One of the 87 assembly constituencies of the state, Batamaloo falls under Srinagar parliamentary constituency. The seat has been the stonghold of JKNC. PDP's victory from the constituency in the bypolls of 2004 came as a surprise to everyone. But in the 2008 assembly elections JKNC managed to snatch away the seat from PDP. Mohamad Irfan Shah of JKNC won the 2008 assembly elections by defeating Tariq Hameed Karra of PDP who won the 2004 bypolls. Shah bagged 9444 votes as against Karra's 6738 votes.
