About Amirakadal Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Amirakadal is a city in Jammu and Kashmir. It is famous for the Amirakadal bridge which is one of the seven historical bridges in the district. The bridge is also referred to as the 'first bridge'. It was constructed in 1774 by Afghan governor. The assembly constituency of Amirakadal belongs to Srinagar parliamentary constituency. JKNC which occupied the seat since 1977 lost to INC in 2002. But in the 2008 assembly elections it managed to regain its lost ground. Nasir Aslam Wani of JKNC won the assembly elections by defeating Parvaiz Ahmed Bhat of PDP. Wani got 3922 votes as against Bhat's 3103 votes.
