Smriti Zubin Irani is the Current Women and Child Development Minister of India
The ministry of Women and Child Development was established in 1985 and was initially a part of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It was made a separate ministry in the year 2006. It works for the formulation and administration of the rules, regulations and laws related to women and child development in India. Smriti Zubin Irani is the head of the ministry who took the charge in May 2014. Menaka Gandhi was the last Minister of Women and Child Development. Mamata Bannerjee was the first Minister to held the position from 2006 to 2009.
