In 2009 Election Results the UPA won around 261 out of 543 seats, and in the second position was NDA with 158 seats, while 23 seats were won by Left parties.

In 2014 Election Results the BJP won 282 seats out of 543 seats. This took the NDA tally to 336 seats out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. INC could only manage to win 44 seats and stayed in the second position while AIADMK party from Tamil Nadu came third with 37 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.

Dadra And Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha Election Summary 2014

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party won the elections in lone constituency of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a Union Territory(UT) in India which is represented in the Lok Sabha by a single constituency. Like any other UT, Dadra and Nagar Haveli is governed by a Governor who is elected by the President of India. Presently, B.S. Bhalla is the Governor of the UT. Indian national Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are the active political parties in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The sole constituency of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is reserved for Scheduled Tribes and is presently ruled by the BJP. The UT participated in the Lok Sabha polls for its lone constituency and a remarkable 85% voter turnout was reported in the UT.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a Union Territory in Western India, locked between Gujarat in North and Maharashtra in South. The UT is represented in Lok Sabha by a single Parliamentary Constitency, which is reserved for a candidate from Schedule Tribe. The 2014 general election is the 16th Lok Sabha election to be conducted in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. As per the schedule released by the Election Commission of India, the election will be conducted here on 30 April 2014.

After its establishment as a Union Territoryin 1961, Dadra and Nagar Haveli had Tumkur Sivasankar as its first Administrator, who was appointed in 1962. The current Administrator is B.S. Bhalla, who was appointed in 2012. He also serves as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Daman andDiu.

The total population of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is over 3,40,000 as per the 2011 census data. There is a 52% male majority, and the sex ratio of the area is 775 females per 1,000 males. Over 62% of the population belongs to the Scheduled Tribes, while the rest comprises Marathis, Gujaratis, Rajasthanis, etc. The average literacy rate is 78%.
