About Sultanganj Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Sultanganj is a legislative assembly constituency located in the Bhagalpur district of the state of Bihar. It is a part of the Banka Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of the state. A total of 2,86,756 people of the Sultanganj assembly constituency possess the right to vote, amongst whom 1,51,490 are men and 1,35,250 are women. According to the implementation of the orders of the Delimitation Commission of India in 2008, the Sultanganj assembly segment consists of Shahkund and Sultanganj community development blocks. The Delimitation Commission also recommended that the constituency would no longer be reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.

Subodh Rai of JD (U) represents the Sultanganj assembly segment in the state legislative assembly of Bihar. Rai earned the right to do so after he won the seat having bagged 34652 votes in the 2010 assembly elections. He beat RJD's Ramavatar Mandal by a margin of 4,845 votes.
