About Manihari Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

In Katihar district of Bihar, Manihari is one of the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state. The constituency is reserved for the candidates from the Scheduled Tribes (ST). Manihari consists of Amdabad, Mansahi and Manihari community development blocks as per the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India, 2008.


The Manihari assembly constituency is home to a total of 2,27,078 people who are eligible to vote. Amongst the voters of the constituency are 1,21,049 men and 1,06,022 women. Manohar Prasad Singh of JD (U) is the sitting MLA of the constituency, who defeated NCP candidate Gita Kisku by a margin of 4,165 votes in the assembly elections held in 2010. Manohar Prasad Singh got 44,938 votes, while Gita Kisku settled for 40,773 votes. The assembly segment of Manihari is a part of the Katihar Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of Bihar.
