About Mahishi Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Located in the Saharsa district of Bihar, Mahishi is one of the 243 legislative assembly segments of the state. The Mahishi assembly constituency consists of Arapatti, Baghwa, Pastpar, Birgaun, Telhar, Manwar, Mahisarho, Telwa East, Telwa West, Kundah and Bhalahi gram panchayats of Mahishi community development block; Sattar Katiya community development block; and Nauhatta community development block as recommended by the Delimitation Commission of India in 2008.

A total of 2,48,377 eligible voters populate the assembly constituency of Mahishi, amongst them are 1,27,910 male and 1,20,465 female electors. RJD's Dr. Abdul Gafoor represents Mahishi in the state legislative assembly of Bihar. Dr. Gafoor won the seat after he bagged 39,158 votes in the 2010 assembly elections. He defeated Raj Kumar Sah of JD (U), who managed to get 37,441 votes. Mahishi is a part of the Madhepura Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of Bihar.
