Madhubani assembly segment is in Madhubani district of Bihar and is one the 243 assembly constituencies of the state. The legislative assembly segment of Madhubani comprises Pandaul community development block, Basaura, Madhubani municipality, Balia, Bachhi, Bhittihi, Bhavara, Sundarpur, Lachhminagar, Khajuri, Sonaur and Maksuda gram panchayats of Madhubani CD block. Madhubani assembly constituency is a part of the Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency by the same name - Madhubani.

The assembly constituency of Madhubani is populated by 2,93,824 eligible voters, out of which 1,56,010 are male, while 1,37,799 are female. Presently, the constituency is represented by BJP's Ram Deo Mahto in the state assembly. Mahto won the 2010 assembly elections from Madhubani constituency with 44,817 votes. RJD's Naiyar Azam was the runner-up who bagged 44,229 votes.
