Gopalganj is a district, a Lok Sabha (parliamentary), and a legislative assembly constituency in the state of Bihar. The assembly segment of Gopalganj has a big electorate of 2,98,694 eligible voters, out of which 1,52,834 are men and 1,45,850 are women. The vote share from Gopalganj constituency was 57 % for the Bihar Assembly election 2015.

The sitting MLA of the constituency is BJP's Subas Singh, who won the Gopalganj assembly seat by getting 78,491 votes in the assembly elections held in 2015. Reyazul Haque of RJD was the runner-up with 73,417 votes. Subash Singh has been winning this constituency since October 2005 assembly election. He got his third term in the year 2015. Also, for the 3 elections that Singh had won, Reyazul Haque was the runner up for all three.
