Shyam Bahadur Singh of JDU represents the Barharia constituency in the state legislative assembly of Bihar. He won 65,168 votes in the assembly elections held in 2015 and defeated LJP�s Bachha Panday, who managed 50,585 votes. Shyam Bahadur Singh is the second time MLA from Barharia constituency. He had got his first victory in the year 2010.

Barharia is a legislative assembly segment in the Siwan district of Bihar and is also a part of the Siwan Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency. There are a total of 2,72,688 people in the Barharia assembly segment who hold the right to vote, among these 1,47,156 are men and 1,25,526 are women.
