About Nawan Shahr Assembly Constituency

Nawan Shahr is constituency No. 47 of Punjab legislative assembly.
It is situated in Nawan Shahr district and comes under the Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Nawan Shahr assembly constituency has 1,46,849 registered voters. It comprises 75,258 male and 71,591 female registered voters.

In the last Punjab assembly elections held in 2012, the Congress won this constituency by a slim margin of 1,759 votes. Guriqbal Kaur, the winning Congress candidate, got 35,910 votes. The runner-up was Satinder Kaur Kariha of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) who got 34,151 votes. The voter turnout was 79.86 %.
