About Lawspet Assembly Constituency

Lawspet is constituency No. 11 of Puducherry legislative assembly. It is situated in Pondicherry district. It is an open constituency.

According to the Election Commission of India, Lawspet has 23,749 registered voters. It includes 12,013 male and 11,735 female registered voters.

In the 2011 Assembly elections, the AINRC won this seat by a comfortable margin of 5,432 votes, that is, 27.61% of the total valid votes. M.Vaithianathan, the winning candidate from AINRC, got 10,189 votes. With 4,757 votes, V.P. Sivakolunthu of Congress emerged the runner-up. The voter turnout was 83.03 %.
