About Murtijapur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Murtijapur is one of the municipal councils of Akola district of Maharashtra. The main source of income for the people in the area is agriculture. As of 2011 India census, Murtijapur had a population of 174,650. The assembly constituency of Murtijapur belongs to Akola parliamentary constituency. The BJP which won the 1995 and 1999 assembly elections lost to NCP in 2004 elections. But in 2009 assembly elections the party managed to regain its lost ground. Harish Marotiappa Pimpale of BJP defeated Palaspagar Baldev Sukhaev of BBM. Pimpale bagged 50333 votes as against Sukhaev's 34975 votes.
