About Shangus Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Shangus is a town in Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir. The assembly constituency of Shangus belongs to Anantnag parliamentary constituency. Peerzada Mansoor Hussain won the 2008 assembly elections and is the present MLA. He defeated Gulzar Ahmad Wani of INC. Hussain bagged 13853 votes as against Wani's 12423 votes. In a recent statement, Hussain said that the constituency is neglected by the government. The government is not taking into consideration the issue related to expansion of administrative units.
