About Karnah Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Karnah is an administrative tehsil in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The tehsil of Karnah comprises of 58 villages. The area is important for the country for geo-strategic interests. The assembly constituency of Karnah falls under Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency. The seat has been occupied by Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKN) since 1987. Kafil Ur Rehman won the 2008 assembly elections for the third consecutive time and is the present MLA. He defeated Ab Rehman Bhadana of Jammu & Kashmir Awami National Conference (JKANC).
