About Jammu East Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Jammu is the largest city of the Jammu district. It was founded by Raja Jambulochan. The city got its name from him only. It is the winter capital of the state. The assembly constituency of Jammu East belongs to Jammu parliamentary constituency. Ashok Kumar Khajuria who won the bypolls of 1998, came out victorious in the 2008 assembly elections on the BJP ticket. He defeated Narender Singh of INC. Khajuria received 15907 votes as against Singh's 5480 votes.
