About Bishnah Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Bishnah is a town in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir. As of 2001 India census, it had a population of 9141. The assembly constituency of Jammu East belongs to Jammu parliamentary constituency. The area lacks basic civic amenities and infrastructural development. Due to lack of irrigatiion facilities, farmers face a lot of problems. Development will be the major issue in the upcoming assembly elections. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, an independent candidate won the 2008 assembly elections for the second consecutive time. He defeated Kamal Verma of BSP. Sharma secured 14006 votes as against Verma's 13560 votes.
