About Sirsa Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Sirsa, a city in the district by the same name belongs to Sirsa parliamentary constituency. It is the administrative headquarters of the district Sirsa. The place was earlier known as Sairishaka, which finds mention in the Mahabharata. According to 2011 census, the population of Sirsa city is 183,282, out of which 96,806 are males and 86,476 are females. Gopal Kanda an independent candidate won the 2009 assembly elections.
