Symbolically which state has most significance for BJP out of 5 states having elections

Elections in India season has started and so has the politics. 5 states would be facing the assembly election in the next couple of months and different parties will start blame games. Voters will be “Mai Baap” and Election Commission will be “Bhagwan” for parties.

Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana are smaller states as far as the number of seats is concerned however combined together they have around 250 seats in state assembly elections. Currently, Mizoram and Telangana are ruled by other parties so it’s not a prestige issue for BJP to mark a victory. Chhattisgarh will be a tough fight for BJP but their main stakes are in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

In this article, we will discuss the relevance of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh for BJP and the “What if” analysis for the same.

Let’s begin with Rajasthan – a state with a history of alternate governance in every election. Rajasthan is definitely an important state looking at the number of seats in Vidhan Sabha as well as Lok Sabha. However, looking at the opinion polls Congress will gain the majority with the huge margin.

The prime reason coming out from the survey is the working style of the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the ignorance faced by the public in last five years.

Tactically loss in Rajasthan would hit the momentum of the Modi wave and can have serious implications in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. If somehow BJP wins the majority against the survey and opinions of political experts it will be a real gift for BJP considering the negative vibes in the state.

On the other hand, Sachin Pilot’s popularity amongst the youth is increasing and he can be a strong candidate for Chief Ministership.

Which leaves Madhya Pradesh – In my opinion, Madhya Pradesh is the most important state for BJP to secure. We are expecting a close fight but BJP will sail through as per few political experts. Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s clean image is the biggest support for BJP but there are certain issues like the condition of farmers, a couple of scams blames which will hit them on the ground.

Madhya Pradesh has the total of 230 seats out of which get more than 66% seats would not be an easy task. If BJP loses MP it will definitely mean that the road to governance in Lok Sabha elections will be in danger. Why we can say that is because Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have helped BJP in the previous election to get the majority and if they don’t secure the seats won this time it will be really hard for them to cover the gap from other states in India.

Hence Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will set the tone for Lok Sabha Elections in 2019.
