IPS Officer Subodh Kumar appointed as CBI director to take charge. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal was serving as a CISF Chief till now. Jaiswal is a 1985-batch officer of the Maharashtra Cadre. He has now been appointed as the CBI Director by the high-level panel led by PM Modi.
Subodh Kumar Jaiswal is one of the top officers of Maharashtra. Jaiswal spent a 35-year of an ambitious career across several of the country’s law enforcement and Intelligence Bureau agencies.
Born in Dhanbad in the year 1962, Subodh Kumar is an alumnus of the CMRI branch of De Nobili School located in Jharkhand. In 2018, Subodh Kumar was appointed as the Commissioner of the Mumbai Police. He played a key role in cracking various scams and was also a part of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad. Jaiswal also probed the 2006 Malegaon blasts and the “Telgi” Stamp Paper Scam.
The position of director in the Central Bureau of Investigation was vacant for three months. Rishi Kumar Shukla was the previously appointed chief who completed his two-year tenure and left the position on 3rd February. Subodh Kumar now takes charge as the new director appointed by the three-member panel that includes Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary (Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha) and NV Ramana (Chief Justice of India).
