Raman Singh, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh registered for the toolkit issue started protesting in Raipur after FIR was lodged against him. Several other party members were seen protesting outside the civil lines police station in Raipur. FIR against BJP leader Raman Singh and Sambit Patra was filed on complaints of Akash Sharma the chief of Congress’ student wing National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in the state. The toolkit issue has sparked the nationwide concern of manipulating and forging documents to bring enmity between various classes in India. The political tussle which is seen in the democratic nation makes way for insecurities to barge in. The BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra tweeted, “Friends look at the #CongressToolKit in extending help to the needy during the Pandemic! More of a PR exercise with the help of ‘Friendly Journalists’ & ‘Influencers’ than a soulful endeavour. Read yourselves the agenda of the Congress: #CongressToolKitExposed.” FIR was filed against Raman Singh and Sambit Patra. Raman Singh directed his agony towards the state government of Chhattisgarh saying that the Baghel led government in the state is controlled by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to settle scores with Patra. On 19 May 2021, the case was registered against Sambit Patra and Raman Singh. The investigation team asked for Raman Singh’s personal details in relation to his Twitter account. Singh refused to share the details asserting that his account is a public account and everything related is in the public domain. He shared that he has given all the information to the Police. Raman Singh alleged that the law in the state is governed by the Congress government because the notice issued to him by the police was already tweeted by INC, much before it was handed over to him. Raman is of the opinion that the Congress party is deliberately harassing and suppressing his views. He said that in the court all the allegations against him will be proven null and void. Raman along with many senior BJP leaders like Brijmohan Agrawal and Rajesh Munat started protesting outside the police station holding posters that say that If highlighting your anti-national conspiracies is a crime, we will commit it repeatedly, arrest us. Spokesperson of Congress Government reacted to the accusations saying the BJP government tried to distract the attention from the ongoing Coronavirus mismanagement. The coronavirus pandemic in India has hit the people very hard. The partial lockdown in states has left people hopeless and tired. Rahul Gandhi referring to the toolkit issue says that the truth remains unafraid. The government should ensure that truth and justice prevail.
