On Tuesday, in the parliament, a question was raised on the necessity of printing PM Modi’s Photograph on the certificate of COVID-19 vaccination. The certificate of Covid vaccine has a photo of PM Modi which have raised question by the opposition parties in the parliament.
Minister of State (MoS) for Health Bharati Pawar informed that PM Modi’s Photograph on the vaccine certificate has a specific reason, it helps in creating awareness amongst the masses. She added that the design and format of the certificate are in accordance with that of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Modi’s photograph reinforces the greater need of creating awareness. It gives a message amongst the masses about the importance and significance of following COVID-19-appropriate behavior. This serves a larger public interest.
Kumar Ketkar, Congress Rajya Sabha MP, and a former journalist questioned the necessity of printing photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the certificate of COVID-19 vaccination. He also asked who made it mandatory.
Bharati Pravin Pawar informed that due to the evolving nature of pandemics, it is appropriate to follow Covid 19 norms. One of the preventive measures to avoid covid spread so it is imperative to follow covid norms religiously. Modi’s photo creates awareness about the Covid 19 appropriate behaviors.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that such messages are sent to people. She stressed that the format of COVID-19 vaccination certificates, issued from Co-WIN to the Vaccinated people, are standardized and in conformity with the evolving WHO guidance.
“The format of vaccination certificate, compliant with the WHO norms for vaccination certificates, including the message and presentation about the importance of following COVID appropriate behavior even after vaccination, has been decided to keep all these factors in consideration,” she said.
