PM Modi’s Cabinet Reshuffle : The first-ever cabinet expansion of National Democratic Alliance NDA 2.0 will be announced at 6 pm. More than 13 ministers are likely to be a part of the reshuffled Cabinet, at least three ministers of state (MoS) are likely to be promoted.
Former Congressman party member Jyotiraditya Scindia who joined BJP, Sarbananda Sonowal, the former Chief Minister of Assam, Bhupendra Yadav, and Meenakshi Lekhi representing Delhi are expected to join the government. Ahead of the reshuffle, 17 people visited PM Modi’s residence.
Three Ministers of State (MoS) Anurag Thakur, Purshottam Rupala, and GK Reddy, who also met with PM Modi, are expected to get promoted.
More NDA allies will likely join the government in this revamped version. Some of the allies are RCP Singh from Janata Dal-United, Pashupati Paras from Lok Janshakti Party, and Apna Dal chief Anupriya Patel.
The new cabinet expansion will include more share of ministries for Other Backward Class (OBCs). The representation of women in the new cabinet will be given more priority. The special representation will be given to those female representatives who have administrative experience, according to some sources.
Government sources also say the revamped cabinet will include more professionals like “PhDs, MBAs, post-graduates, and professionals”, to increase the average education level.
Majorly the NDA 2.0 will predominantly focus on the assembly election in northern states like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, it might be possible that these states will witness more representation in the expanding cabinet.
The General Lok Sabha elections in 2024 will also be taken care of in the reshuffle. A new “Ministry of Cooperation” has been created.
In a major change, Union Social Justice Minister Thawarchand Gehlot was appointed as Governor of Karnataka ahead of the cabinet reshuffle.
According to media reports, 81 members will join as cabinet members. Currently, there are just 53 ministers in the cabinet this implies that there is an option of 28 ministers who can be included in the Cabinet expansion.
