Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his Cabinet on Wednesday, inducting 36 into the council and promoted 7 Ministers of States (MoS). 15 out of 43 ministers will be part of the Union Cabinet, the rest 28 will hold the charge as Ministers of State (MoS) in the Union Council of Ministers (CoM).
Jyotiraditya Scindia, a former Congress party member was given the portfolio of the Ministry of civil aviation. He expressed his gratitude to all the senior leaders for this opportunity.
Sarbananda Sonowal became the minister of AYUSH and minister of ports, shipping, and waterways. He was the former Chief Minister of Assam.
Bhupendra Yadav is from the state of Rajasthan. After the cabinet reshuffle, he was given charge of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Pashupati Paras was given in charge of the food processing industries. His induction in the Union cabinet however did not go well with Chirag Paswan. He moved the High Court against recognizing Pashupati as the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
The Ministry of Steel went to RCP Singh. He said that his induction is a matter of great pride for any politician.
Mansukh Mandaviya is appointed as the new Health Minister, Anurag Thakur, previously the Minister of States (MoS) got the Information and Broadcasting ministry and Kiren Rijiju is inducted as the new Law Minister.
Apna Dal Chief Anupriya Patel re-joined Union Cabinet as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and industry, She is an ally of the NDA government since 2014.
PM Modi’s cabinet 2.0 saw several women MPs joining the council of ministers at the central level. Shobha Karandlaje, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Annapurna Devi, Pratima Bhoumik, and Bharati Pravin Pawar are inducted taking the count of women representation to 11.
Ahead of the revamp several ministers resigned. Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar, and Education Minister resigned.
Dharmendra Pradhan became the Minister of Education. Mansukh Mandaviya got the Ministry of health. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Rajya Sabha (RS) MP from Odisha, has been given charge of the Railways and IT ministry. Hardeep Singh Puri is given in charge of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
Ahead of the state assembly elections, the cabinet reshuffle witnessed several politicians from UP and other states.
