On Monday during the monsoon session of parliament, the opposition extended its support to the Central government‘s constitutional amendment bill. The bill seeks to give power to states and Union territories to make their own Other Backward Classes lists.

The parliament session has entered its last week. 4 bills have been listed by the government for passage in the Rajya Sabha. During the last week, the government passed eight bills in 3 hours 25 minutes. The opposition alleged that the government is undermining the role of Parliament. But, the central government blamed the opposition parties for not resolving the issues.

The Opposition extended its support to the Centre’s Constitutional amendment bill regarding the OBC’s. On Sunday Union Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi has appealed to the Opposition to help pass the bill.

An adjournment notice was given by Congress MPs Manish Tiwari and Manickam Tagore for discussing the Pegasus spyware controversy and other issues.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal staged a protest outside the Parliament building against the farm laws. She said, “When ‘annadaata’ is dying every day, everything should be halted & black laws should be discussed to stop further deaths…”

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will move important bills in parliament today like the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2021. The General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill, 2021 will be moved by Union Finance Minister for passage in the upper house.

In the parliament opposition members tried to raise issues concerning the nation. Pegasus spyware controversy, rising fuel price, and the three farm laws are the major issues but these issues were not taken up seriously.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said the Prime Minister is not answering questions in the Parliament that are raised by the opposition. He added that opposition parties are ready for discussions but the Central government is impeding the proceedings.
