Covid Toolkit Case: Congress requested Twitter to suspend the BJP leader’s account for allegedly spreading misinformation. On Friday, Congress lodged a complaint in the “Covid 19 Toolkit Case” against BJP leaders including Party Chief, JP Nadda, and Union Minister Smriti Irani, requesting Twitter to permanently suspend their accounts.
Congress’s social media head, Rohan Gupta said “We have officially registered a complaint to Twitter seeking permission to suspend Twitter handles of a few BJP leaders”.
The bitter war of words between Congress and BJP was fueled when the BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra accused the Congress party of preparing a covid-19 toolkit for shattering PM Modi’s political image. Sambit further alleged the Congress party workers for calling the Covid-19 virus a “Modi Strain”.
Against these allegations, the Congress party filed a police complaint and also wrote to Twitter to ban the social media handles of BJP leaders, requesting to further investigate the subject matter. The complaint is filed by AICC (All India Congress Committee) department head, Mr. Rajeev Gowda.
Rajeev Gowda and social media head of Congress, Rohan Gupta said that this conspiracy is nothing but BJP propaganda, created by the BJP leaders to fuel hatred and escalate violence in the nation.
Congress has hit back hard on the BJP leaders and also filed a police complaint about accusing them and forging a fake document on the Central Vista Project prepared on the AICC letterhead.
AICC head, Rajeev Gowda and Rohan Gupta also quoted “What BJP is doing, is a gross misuse of the social media platform by the senior functionaries of BJP. It will only cause social unrest in the society amid the current pandemic”. They have requested to remove tweets posted from the BJP leader’s accounts are they’re trying to manipulate people with forged content.
