Delhi is the heart of the country and despite just 7 Lok Sabha parliamentary seats significance of Delhi cannot be ignored. It is a symbolic win for the parties if they win majority in Delhi.

In 2014 BJP clean sweeped Delhi with all seven seats in their pocket. Delhi has never been any single parties’ property. Time to time Delhi voters have voted for change and have voted on issues. Unlike other tier two and tier three cities in India where caste is dominant over issues in elections Delhi voters are smart enough to understand core issues.

Last Assembly Elections – Delhi witnessed one of the greatest setback for both the national parties BJP and Congress with Aam Admi Party making a historical victory. It was self-belief of Delhi voters in the issues that Arvind Kejriwal raised. They voted for his clean image and his commitment to bring change.

Having said that Lok Sabha Elections are completely different hence Delhi voters are also smart enough to understand that they are voting for Prime ministership.

In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections – BJP are the favourites in Delhi and are expected to win more than 5 seats in majority of the opinion polls. In a ground survey conducted by elections.in we realized that lot of voters are voting for Modi however they are not happy with their current MP’s which they elected in 2014. In a word with a leading pan shop in Malviya Nagar South Delhi he mentioned – “कभी चेहरा दिखाने भी आयीं हैं चार साल में, कुछ नहीं किया मालवीय नगर के लिए लेकिन हम मोदी को वोट करेंगे”. While taking to a business man in Dariya Ganj he mentioned “No way Modi this time, he ruined the businesses, you stop the cash flow that’s fine but you haven’t stopped the commissions in government offices they are still taking money below the table”

On the other hand there is different voter segment for Aam Admi Party. If you talk to Auto Drivers, fourth class employees, tier two/three shop owners who were 100% Aam Admi vote bank during last elections now have mixed opinions. While talking to a group of Auto Drivers in Lajpat Nagar Market they mentioned “केजरीवाल बोला बहुत कुछ पर किया कुछ नहीं मोदी ने नोटबंदी किया ग़रीब कुछ दिन परेशान हुआ ज़रूर लेकिन जिन्होंने करोड़ों रुपया जमा कर रखा था जो ज़्यादा परेशान हुआ”

Somehow Modi has made an emotional connect with voters with is actions like Demonetization, Surgical strikes on Pakistan, Gas connections in almost every house, Toilets in villages. So basically he has tried to tough upon the basic issues to reach out to the majority voters.

In Elections.in opinion out of 7 Seats in Delhi 6 to BJP and 1 to AAP
