In connection with the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near Mukesh Ambani residence and businessman Mansukh Hiren’s death, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Pradeep Sharma.
Pradeep Sharma is a former encounter specialist. He officially became a member of the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra on September 13, 2019. Sharma was the head of the anti-extortion cell of the Thane crime branch before taking voluntary retirement from his post.
The NIA questioned Sharma for two days in a row. Two days ago, the investigation agency arrested two other persons, Santosh Shelar and Anand Jadhav from a slum pocket in Kurar village of Malad east, in this connection. The NIA has said that both Shelkar and Jadhav were allegedly involved in the conspiracy to plant an SUV with explosives near Mukesh Ambani’s residence.
The NIA had earlier arrested five persons Sachin Vaze, Riyazuddin Qazi, Sunil Mane, a convicted former cop Vinayak Shinde and Naresh Gor. Naresh Gor is suspected of providing SIM cards to prime suspect Sachin Vaze, one of the SIM cards that were used in Mansukh Hiren’s murder.
On February 25 this year an SUV laden with 20 gelatin sticks and a threat letter was found abandoned near Mukesh Ambani’s residence Antilia. Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiren was the owner of the SUV. He was found dead at a Mumbra creek on March 5.
Earlier, the NIA team raided Sharma’s house located in J B Nagar in Andheri west around 6 am. The two cases were earlier being probed by Maharashtra Police, but later were taken over by the NIA. Sachin Vaze, the prime suspect in the twin case was arrested on 13 March.
