Writer and former international diplomat, Shashi Tharoor posts a video on vaccine policy from sickbed saying, “India needs free vaccines for all”. In his video, he has slammed the existing vaccine policy of the nation and has demanded major changes to offer free vaccination to citizens of all age groups.
Shashi Tharoor is undergoing his Covid-19 treatment at a hospital from where he posted the video on Twitter attacking the government’s existing vaccine policy. In his video, Shashi Tharoor has also raised concern over how India plans to get the entire country vaccinated by December, as promised by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar. He said, “It is almost impossible to vaccinate every Indian by December as there is no clear vaccine policy being followed”.
In the response to Shashi Tharoor, Javadekar said “It may take up to three years to finish the vaccination process in India where the entire population gets vaccinated”.
Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor while supporting his party said “I support the INC campaign and a massive change is required in India’s vaccination policy. Universal vaccines shall be permitted in the country and that too free of cost, in order to make sure that everyone gets vaccinated by the end of this year”.
As per the stats gathered from the CoWIN portal, around 4.36 crores Indians have been vaccinated so far. The vaccination drive in the country began in January where approx. 22 doses were administered.
Shashi Tharoor strongly said, “The Central government should provide vaccines for free to all citizens. The center should not follow a differential vaccine pricing plan.”
“Save India from Covid, Make vaccines free for all” he pleaded in his video.
