The women-led protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizen are inviting chaos in the Delhi, ahead of the Delhi Assembly Election 2020. The massive protest conducted by Muslim women is gaining acclaim in the account of a ‘Historic movement’; however, the same has caused a headache to the people of Delhi. It has resulted in the blockade of a prominent road that joins South Delhi and Noida. The local residents of the area are becoming increasingly impatient over the troubles caused due to the Shaheen Bagh protest. Bharatiya Janata Party is looking to leverage this situation, by polarizing the voters for the Delhi Election 2020.
Many leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have openly spoken against the protest held at Shaheen Bagh. BJP believes that more the issue is stirred up, more it is beneficial to score in the Delhi Election 2020. It can be understood from the statement of Amit Shah when he urged people to press the EVM button which sends a current to Shaheen Bagh. That the election of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Delhi Election 2020 will prevent many incidents like Shaheen Bagh. He once again asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can provide safety and security to the country.
In a separate turn of events previously, BJP held a press conference and urged Arvind Kejriwal to clear stand on the Shaheen Bagh issue. Citing the issue of inconvenience caused to Delhites due to the protests, BJP literally termed it as ‘Shame Bagh’. Bharatiya Janata Party is also polarising the votes by pointing out why the Muslims population is having a problem with India giving Citizenship to persecuted Hindus from neighboring countries. BJP is accusing AAP and Congress for opposing CAA-NRC and abrogation of Article 370 and said that the two parties are fearing their Vote banks.
Several media reports have shown that the protest at Shaheen Bagh is making the lives of Delhi people troublesome. Children are suffering since the school bus has to take a long way through another route leading to tremendous traffic jams. Also, a person had lost life since the Ambulance was stuck in the heavy traffic upon taking a long route due to the blockade of Shaheen Bagh. Reportedly, the people of the area are in the effort to stage a protest to open the blocked road. BJP is sympathizing with the vendors and businesses of this area since the protest has negatively affected their revenues. Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the opposition parties of paying Rs. 500 to the protesters at the site. It looks like this firm stand against the protests and the blockade of Shaheen Bagh would open the road to the BJP’s victory for the Delhi Election 2020. To recall, polling will take place on 8 February and Delhi Election Result 2020 will be announced on February 11, 2020.
