Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi’s incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal presented a ‘guarantee card’ that lists 10 ‘guarantees’ or promises that the AAP government will fulfil in the next five years if elected again. According to Kejriwal, this ‘guarantee card’ is neither the complete manifesto nor even related to it. “This card is to counter the opposition’s claim that all the schemes launched by the AAP government would only be valid till the 31st of March. This ‘guarantee card’ has promises that affect all the people of Delhi. The real manifesto will be released in the next 10 days.” said the CM. Let’s have a look at the 10 ‘guarantees’ or promises that the card includes.
As the first ‘guarantee’, Kejriwal has promised continuation of 24 hours of uninterrupted power supply and 200 units of free electricity for everyone. The CM said that Delhi became the first city in the country to have 24/7 electricity and will continue along this road. The city will also be freed from the web of overhead wires and will be replaced with underground wires.
The second ‘guarantee’ of AAP chief is to deliver 24-hour pure piped drinking water to each and every household of Delhi. Also the scheme of providing 20,000 litres of free water will continue.
The Chief Minister’s third and fourth ‘guarantees’ are to give world-class education facilities to every child and better health facilities for every person in the city respectively. AAP government has done sterling work in the fields of education and health care.
In his fifth ‘guarantee’ the AAP chief has promised to build the ‘biggest and cheapest’ transport facility for the city by deploying more than 11,000 buses and 500-Kms of Metro stretch in the city. Also, free bus travel has been promised for students along with females.
Kejriwal’s sixth ‘guarantee’ is to control the pollution in Delhi. This includes reducing air pollution by 3 times as well as controlling water pollution of Yamuna. Kejriwal has promised to clean Yamuna and bring it to the level of Ganga.
Garbage is another headache for the people of Delhi. Kejriwal has promised to make Delhi garbage-free in the next five years as his seventh ‘guarantee’. Though, it must be noted that garbage management of Delhi is with the MCD which doesn’t come under the jurisdiction of Delhi government.
Delhi is known as the rape capital of the country because of the increasing crimes against women taking place in the city. Kejriwal has promised to make Delhi safer for women as his eighth ‘guarantee’. AAP government will be setting up CCTV cameras and street lights across the city and will also be deploying ‘Mohalla Marshals’ in DTC buses.
His ninth ‘guarantee’ is to provide better roads, water supply, sewer facilities, and mohalla clinics for the unauthorised colonies. Moreover, the last and tenth ‘guarantee’ is to provide ‘pucca’ houses to all the people living in the slums under the ‘Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makan’ scheme.
The National Captial Territory of Delhi (NCT-Delhi) will be going to polls on the 8th of February and the results of the same will be announced on 11th of February. Kejriwal’s tenure as Chief Minister will be ending next month.
