Ever since the Narendra Modi Government came to power in 2014. Some sections of Indian and the international media have become highly biased in their coverage of any kind of extremism. Often, narratives are put up on social media to target India’s majority- that is the Hindus.

The left liberal group of India is provoking a ‘selective outrage’ over any communal incident. The outrage is only against the ‘Hinduism’ and right-wing politics. Some political parties waste no time in launching any campaign whenever any member of the minority community is the victim.

The hashtags popup on Twitter which has now become a fort of the so-called liberals. The only motive of political parties behind supporting selective outrage is to please the minority and score votes in the elections.

However, no such ‘deeply saddened’ feelings would be seen if any Hindu is at the receiving end of persecution. Only a few media houses do report the incident and do not follow up on the story. The most recent example is of the Palghar lynching of Sadhus.

Cherry Picking of Events

In the month of April 2020, the infamous Palghar Lynching of Sadhus received attention only when the video was shared on Whatsapp. Moreover, the left liberal gang only spoke about the incidents as ‘men being lynched’. When BJP demanded a probe into the matter, Congress immediately accused BJP of doing politics.

Maybe this was a tactic by Congress to show its loyalty towards the minority. AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi also echoed the same opinion as Congress. However, he was quick to urge his followers to ‘Fight Back and Save the Country’ in the Hapur case. Probably, the Congress is on a mission to make political gains by first opposing the CAA and then downplaying Hindu persecution.

Twitter Is the Medium

Major parties have IT cells that fuel the disdain for Hindus and Hinduism. Even liberal celebrities join in, too. The hashtags start trending to show the Hindus in a poor light. Many people openly declare on Twitter that they feel ‘shameful’ of Hinduism. It is out of understanding how such singular incidents make them feel shameful, and feel proud of talking about the minority.

The saffron color is being painted intimidating only to lay claim over the vote banks. These stunts only reassure their loyalties and bring out a fixed vote share for the future elections. It is quite saddening that such movements are gaining momentum since few years.
