The superficial observation of the Bihar Assembly election 2020 projects only two rivalries. One is the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ and the other is ‘NDA’. However, with the decision of LJP’s Chirag Paswan to contest the Bihar Election 2020 on its own, the competition has also emerged within the allies.
The Lok Janashakti Party of Chirag Paswan has the power to cause some damage to JDU’s vote share. Chirag Paswan has vowed to dethrone Nitish Kumar from the CM’s position. Following this ambition, LJP had decided to field candidates against all JDU candidates for the Bihar Election 2020.
It is to be noted that LJP is not fielding a single candidate against BJP. Instead, Chirag Paswan is singing praises of PM Modi. From all this commotion within the NDA, it is quite clear that Bharatiya Janata Party has scored greater prospects to emerge as the single largest party in the Bihar Election 2020.
The Smart Play of BJP
Apart from 1 or 2 snubs, BJP has remained silent over Chirag Paswan’s move to go solo. Its leaders are also projecting Nitish Kumar as a CM face in excess. Both these situations pop out the conclusion that the BJP is standing with Nitish Kumar, yet it isn’t. The smart play of BJP for the Bihar Election 2020 is well managed by political Chanakya ‘Amit Shah’.
Also, BJP’s own assessment has revealed that the migrant crisis has heavily dented Nitish Kumar’s image. He is no longer the ‘sushasan’ babu of the past. Hence, the JDU might not perform well for the Bihar election 2020. Whereas BJP’s face PM Modi still retains his appeal
In addition to this, LJP fielding candidates against JDU will harm JDU’s vote share given that the sympathy wave is coming after Paswan’s demise.
The Unsettled Business
Back in 2015, Nitish Kumar had shown BJP that he is capable of swinging the votes for the Bihar Election. Also, BJP has learned from its mistake of 2015 that it cannot always ‘act’ as a big brother. Maharashtra has also set an example for the party.
Therefore, BJP has seen a golden opportunity now to ‘earn the title of big brother’. As far as the Mahagathbandhan is considered, it has grim chances as Lalu Yadav is still in jail. It’s a well-known fact that his son, Tejasvi Yadav, is incapable of yielding votes.
The equation of Bihar Election 2020 works perfectly in favor of BJP. Once it comes as the largest party, it will be easier to sit at the negotiation table and settle the old embarrassment of 2015.
