Voting for Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2019 has concluded today. The process recorded over 70% voter turnout. There are about 237 candidates in the election battle. Jharkhand Assembly has 81 seats and the majority number is 41. Final results of the voting will be announced on 23 December. However, several polling agencies have conducted Exit Polls and the results collectively show BJP a downside in the Jharkhand Elections.
Prominent Exit Polls
IANS-CVOTER-ABP exit poll has predicted 35 seats for Congress-JMM-RJD alliance, whereas BJP gets 32 seats. The AJSU is predicted to win 5 seats and the remaining 9 seats might be won by independent candidates.
INDIA TODAY-AXIS MY INDIA has given a clear victory to INC+ gaining 38-50 seats whereas BJP is reduced to 22-32 seats. Also, AJSU predicted to win 3-5 seats and 6-11 independent winners.
The third exit poll, conducted by KASHISH NEWS also has a winning prediction for the INC+ coalition. According to this poll, INC+ gets 37-49 seats; BJP: 25-30 seats; AJSU: 2-4 seats; and 2-4 constituencies to be won by independent candidates.
A look back at 2014
All three exit polls have given a lead to the congress coalition in the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2019. In the Jharkhand Assembly election 2014, BJP had won 37 seats and its ally AJSU bagged 5 seats. Also, JVM(P) and JMM were victorious for 8 and 19 seats respectively. INC only had 6 winners for the 2014 election.
