Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is considered to be an influential factor for the Congress in the forthcoming general elections, will be officially taking over as the party’s general secretary on Wednesday. She will be preparing her party for the upcoming Elections in Uttar Pradesh through a road rally in Lucknow and is expected to arrive Lucknow on February 11.
Priyanka Gandhi, who recently returned from the US, just 2 weeks after being appointed as General Secretary of the party of Uttar Pradesh by All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi on Jan 23, would be attending an official meeting of the party for the first time on February 7. This meeting is convened by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, with the senior officials of the party in view of the preparation of the Lok Sabha elections. Rahul has asked all the general secretaries and state officials to be present. Rahul has also convened a meeting of Congress Parliamentary Party leaders and state presidents on February 9, in which preparations for the Lok Sabha elections will be reviewed.
Priyanka has been allotted a room at the party headquarters in Akbar Road Delhi. Priyanka will sit in her old room next to her brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s room. Rahul, as vice president, started with this room and had been sitting in it for a long time.
The party has divided the Uttar Pradesh strategically into two parts, Eastern and Western. Priyanka will be leading the Eastern region of Uttar Pradesh, which is considered to be more competitive than the Western region, for 43 Lok Sabha seats which include Varanasi, Lok Sabha seat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Gorakhpur, Lok Sabha seat of BJP‘s Yogi Adityanath. MP Jyotiraditya Scindia is handed over the charge for the Western region of the state.
Congress leaders also said that Priyanka Gandhi will soon join Twitter to interact with party workers and supporters.
