About Langate Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

One of the 87 assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir, Langate is a part of Kupwara district. The assembly constituency of Langate belongs to Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency. Sharief-ud-Din Shariq of the NC won the 2002 assembly elections by defeating Sultan Panditpuri of PDP.The seat was again occupied by NC candidate Ab Rashid Sheikh in 2008 assembly elections. He defeated Mohd Sultan Pandithpori of PDP. Sheikh bagged 7964 votes as against Pandithpori's 7754 votes. There were 60,227 registered voters in Langate for 2008 elections.
