About Asansol Uttar Assembly Constituency

Asansol Uttar is constituency No. 281 of West Bengal legislative assembly. It is situated in Bardhaman district. Together with Asansol Dakshin, it forms the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency. It is an unreserved assembly seat.

According to the Election Commission of India, the constituency of Asansol Uttar has 2,01,174 registered voters. It has 1,09,042 male and 92,132 female voters.

In the 2011 assembly elections, Ghatak Moloy won this seat by a formidable margin of 47,793 votes. Ghatak represented the Trinamool Congress. Ranu Roychowdhury of CPI(M), who got 48,218 votes, was the runner-up. The voter turnout was 76.86%.
