About Arambagh Assembly Constituency

Arambag is constituency No. 200 of West Bengal legislative assembly. It is situated in Hooghly district and comes under Arambagh Lok Sabha constituency. Both Arambag and its corresponding Lok Sabha constituency are reserved for scheduled castes.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Arambag has 2,07,829 registered voters. It comprises 1,07,099 male and 1,00,730 female registered voters.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured a maiden victory in this seat in the 2011 Assembly elections. Krishna Chandra Santra, the winning TMC candidate, got 98,011 votes and beat his nearest contender by 19,563 votes. The runner-up was Asit Kumar Malik of CPI(M) who got 78,448 votes. The voter turnout was 88.40 %.
