Uttarakhand Candidates List 2017 for Assembly Polls

  • The BJP Party has released its first list of 64 candidates out of 70 Assembly seats.
  • The BSP Party has released its first list of candidates, party will contest in 50 of the 70 seats.
  • The Samajwadi Party (SP) will field candidates in 51 of the 70 seats in the Assembly elections 2017.
  • Six parties have joined hands to form an alliance for the Assembly elections. As per media sources Hamara Jan Manch Party, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Democratic), Janata Dal (Secular), Janata Dal (United), Peace Party and the Uttarakhand Mool Niwas Party were part of the alliance. They would contest all 70 seats.

BJP Candidates list for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2017

The BJP has released its list of all candidates for Uttarakhand Assembly elections 2017 which are going to be held in single phase on February 15. The list includes 12 former Congress leaders who switched ranks recently to join the BJP. Former state Congress chief and minister Yashpal Arya and his son Sanjeev Arya are going to contest from Bajpur and Naintal reserved seat respectively. Former Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna's son Saurabh Bahuguna will contest from Sitarganj Assembly constituency. Kedar Singh Rawat has bagged nomination from the Yamunotri Assembly seat.

Congress Candidates for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2017

The congress which is in power in Uttarakhand is fighting its arch rival the BJP a do or die battle in Uttarakhand. The Congress is fighting under Harish Rawat the chief minister of Uttarakhand and has released two lists of candidates in which many old sitting MLAs have been given though some tickets have gone to the new candidates as well. The congress loyalists and veterans in the state like Indira Hirdyesh, Surendra Singh Negi Dinesh Aggarwal, while chief minister would be contesting from two seats of Kichha and Haridwar Rural.

Mantri Prasad Naithani and Harish Durgapal the two PDF members who had rebelled from the BJP have been given Congress tickets. With their candidature the difference of opinion between the chief minister Harish Rawat and state Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay who was opposed to it was resolved as they were deemed winning candidates.
